Gheyn, Jacques de, II: Dutch, born Antwerp 1565, died London, 1629, draftsman, painter, and engraver His spontaneous and informal drawings and engravings document the transition from Mannerism to naturalism in Dutch art. He worked at the Court of Orange and designed the grotto, the first in the Netherlands, for Buitenhof, Prince Maurice's garden. Pupil of Hendrick Goltzius. also: Jacob de Gheyn II
